Silk Road Itinerary
This exciting Silk Road tour will take you to Beijing, Urumqi, Kashgar, Turpan, Dunhuang, Xian and Shanghai. You will travel part of the Silk Route which is the route of Marco Polo and one of the most important trade routes linking the east to the west. This is an adventure you will not forget.
Day 01: Arrive into Beijing. Our tour guide will meet you at the airport. Transfer to hotel for check in.
Day 02: Full day visit to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven. In the evening, have a delicious Beijing Duck dinner.
Day 03: Day excursion to the Great Wall and Hutong tour to see the old Beijing neighborhood and local families by rickshaw ride.
Day 04: Depart Beijing to Urumqi by morning flight, the capital of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, the largest province of China. Upon arrival your guide will meet you. Transfer to the city for a visit to Xinjiang Regional Museum to see archaeological treasure from the Silk Road and Xinjiang minority cultures.
Day 05: Morning visit the Tanchi (Heavenly Lake) which is 6500 feet above sea level and 68 miles east of Urumqi. Take a boat cruise on the lake. In the afternoon, visit Red Hill Park, the landmark of Urumqi where you will enjoy a bird – eyes view of the whole city. Afterwards, visit a carpet factory where you will find rich patterned and delicate hand woven silk carpets. After dinner, take an evening flight to Kashgar.
Day 06: Morning visit the famous Sunday Bazaar and learn about Kashgar pottery making in the afternoon.
Day 07: Day tour to visit Id Kah Mosque, the largest mosque in Xingjiang founded in 1442, old streets and bazaars around the mosque, and Abahk Hoja Temple.
Day 08: Take the morning flight back to Urumqi. Upon arrival, drive to Turpan to visit the Karez Wells - ancient irrigation system which made Turpan a rich oasis, Emin Minaret, and Jiaohe city. In the evening join a local Uygur family for dinner and a Uygur dance performance.
Day 09: Day tour of Flaming Mountain, Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves and ancient Ruins of Gaochang. Take a donkey cart ride through the remains of the city wall to the partially repaired temple. After lunch back to Urumqi.
Day 10: Take the morning flight to Dunhuang. Upon arrival, tour the Yang guan pass, Mingsha Sand Dunes and Crescent Moon Spring. Enjoy Dunhuang dance performance in the evening.
Day 11: Day tour to visit Mogao Caves. Take the late flight to Xian. Transfer to hotel upon arrival.
Day 12: Day tour to Terracotta Warriors and Horses at burial site of the First Emperor of Qin Dynasty Grand Mosque and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. After famous dumpling dinner, attend the Tang Dynasty dancing show in evening.
Day 13: Morning tour to Old City Wall and Shangxi Provincial Museum. Depart for Shanghai by afternoon flight. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for check in.
Day 14: Day tour to Jade Buddha Temple, the Bund, Yu Garden, Shanghai Old Town and Shanghai Museum. In the evening, see an acrobatic show.
Day15: Transfer to the airport and depart for home.
