India Tours: India Himachal Tour Itinerary
This India Tour takes you to the British era hill stations of Shimla and Manali and Dhamasala called the "Little Tibet" where the Dhama Llama lives.
India Tour Length: 9 days
Day 1: Delhi Arrival
On arrival, receive assistance at the airport and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Delhi
In the morning, visit the Red Fort, laid out along the river Yamuna as an irregular octagon. Surrounded by a wall of about 2.4 kms in circumference, it is built of red sandstone. The Mughal ruler Shah Jahan transferred his capital from Agra to Delhi and after nine years, the fort was completed in 1648. The fort has two main entrances, the Delhi Gate and the Lahori Gate. The latter faces Chandni Chowk, the city's most crowded but diverse market. Shah Jehan also built the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Humayun’s Tomb, an attractive structure, is believed to be the forerunner of the famous Taj Mahal of Agra. The most well known landmark of Delhi, Qutub Minar, is one of the earliest remains of imperial Delhi (13th century) and the tallest monument of early times. Also, pass by the India Gate, Connaught Place and the President’s Palace. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Delhi to Shimla (45 minutes by air)
In the morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Shimla. On arrival, receive assistance at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Shimla
In the morning, visit Kufri. Situated at an altitude of 2500 meters, it is just a 2 hour drive from Shimla. Later in the afternoon, visit Vice Regal Lodge and walk down Mall Road to see the beautiful British buildings. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Shimla - Manali (30 minutes by flight)
In the morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Kullu. On arrival, receive assistance at the airport and to transfer to the hotel (58 kms / 1 hr by road). Enjoy full day at leisure to walk in the market of Manali. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Manali
In the morning, proceed for a half day sight seeing tour of Manali: visit the 450 years old temple dedicated to Hadimba Devi, Jagatsukh and Vishishth Kund. Visit the Tibetan Monastery and the handicraft center and walk to the nearby picturesque village of Vashisht known for its hot sulphur springs. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: Manali - Rohtang Pass - Manali (51 KMS / 2 HRS – one way)
In the morning, visit the Solang Valley and the 'not to be missed' Rohtang Pass. A snow capped mountain at an altitude of 3978 meters, it is 51 km from Manali. In the afternoon return to Manali. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 8: Manali - Dharamshala (45 minutes by air)
In the morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Gaggal. On arrival, receive assistance at the airport and transfer to the hotel (45 kms / 1 hr by road). Enjoy rest of the day at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 8: Dharamshala
In the morning, proceed for a full day tour of McLeodganj and Dharamshala. McLeodganj, also known as little Lhasa, is the Headquarters of HH Dalai Lama’s government in exile. Visit the monastery and the Tibetan shops. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 9: Dharamshala - Delhi - Departure
In the morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi, receive assistance at the airport to transfer to your onward journey home or to somewhere else in India.
