India Tour Length: 13 days
Day 1: Arrive Delhi
On arrival, transfer and check into the hotel. In the afternoon, take a city tour of Old and New Delhi. Visit historic sights including the Red Fort comprising exquisite palaces reflecting Mughal architecture, the largest mosque in India, the Jama Masjid, the Qutub Minar, a soaring tower of victory dating back to 1199 AD and drive past Rashtrapati Bhavan, the residence of the President of India, Rajpath and India Gate.
Day 2: Delhi / Mandawa: 260 Kms
After breakfast, drive to Mandawa located in the heart of the Shekawati region. On arrival, transfer and check into the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the village with colorful frescoed mansions, temples and charming little shops.
Day 3: Mandawa / Bikaner: 215 Kms
After breakfast, drive to Bikaner, a desert town surrounded by a high wall. Bikaner was once an important staging post on the great caravan routes. On arrival, transfer and check into the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the village and Fort. .
Day 4: Bikaner / Jaisalmer: 363 Kms
After breakfast, drive to Jaisalmer situated in the Thar Desert. Upon arrival, transfer and check into the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 5: Jaisalmer
After breakfast, visit the 800-year-old sandstone Fort that dominates the entire town with its presence atop the Trikuta Hill, the Jain temples dating back to the 12th and 15th centuries and unique mansions with stone-carved facades with delicate sculptures, stone lattices and dainty little balconies. In the evening, enjoy a camel safari to Sam sand dunes up to Sunset Point.
Day 6: Jaisalmer / Jodhpur: 296 Kms
After breakfast, drive to Jodhpur, the second largest city of Rajasthan, dominated by the massive Meherangarh Fort, topping a sheer rocky ridge right in the middle of the town. Upon arrival, transfer and check into the hotel. In the evening, visit the Fort, the Jaswant Thada, which harbors royal cenotaphs built in white marble and the Mandore Gardens, a memorial for former rulers of the area. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: Jodhpur / Udaipur: 350 Kms
After breakfast, drive to Udaipur. En route visit the Jain temples at Ranakpur where intricate carvings detail mythological figures, patterns and motifs on the walls, pillars and domes. Upon arrival, transfer and check into the hotel.
Day 8 Udaipur
After breakfast, visit the City Palace with its lavish collection of artifacts, intricate miniature paintings and sculptures, the Jagdish Temple in the heart of the city dedicated to Lord Jagannath and stroll around Sahelion-ki-Bari, a beautiful garden with fountains. In the evening, take a boat ride on the lake and see the sunset. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 9 Udaipur / Ajmer: 270 Kms
After breakfast, drive to the ‘Holy city of Ajmer’. Upon arrival, transfer and check into the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Pushkar. Return to Ajmer and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Ajmer / Jaipur: 100 Kms
After breakfast, drive to Jaipur. Upon arrival, transfer and check into the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Jaipur’s signature landmark, the multi-storied Hawa Mahal with the bustling bazaar below. Stay overnight at the hotel. /p>
Day 11: Jaipur.
After breakfast, visit the Amber Fort and take an elephant ride up the Fort's ramparts. Originally built in the 16th century by Maharaja Man Singh, the Fort encloses superb palaces and a beautiful temple in marble dedicated to the fearsome goddess Kali. In the afternoon, visit the City Palace Museum and the nearby Jantar Mantar Observatory built in 1728. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 12: Jaipur / Fatehpur Sikri – Agra: 235 Kms
After breakfast, drive to the ‘city of the Taj’, Agra. En route visit the imperial “ghost city” of Fatehpur Sikri constructed of sandstone and built by Emperor Akbar. Upon arrival, transfer and check into the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Agra Fort built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 and ‘one of the wonders of the world’, the Taj Mahal with its majestic marble domes and elegant minarets.
Day 13: Agra / Sikandra / Delhi: 203 Kms
After breakfast, enjoy the morning at leisure. In the afternoon, you will drive to Delhi. En route visit Sikandra and the tomb of Emperor Akbar. On arrival, transfer to the airport for onward travel.
